Beginning Wednesday, March 24th, the Leavenworth County Courthouse will be a secure facility to ensure the safety of all visitors. You can enter the Courthouse at the south entrance on Walnut Street or the northwest ADA entrance off of Custer Street. All other entrances will be designated for egress only.
The Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office will provide uniformed staff at both accessible entrances and visitors will undergo the same level of security screening which has been in place at the Justice Center for many years. All visitors will be asked to place the contents of their pockets into a bowl prior to proceeding through the metal detector; all bags, briefcases, etc. will be screened with an x-ray machine. In order to expedite the process at each entry please limit personal belongings to only those needed to conduct personal business.
As a reminder - the personal carrying of any weapon into the courthouse, including pocket knives, is prohibited. Your patience and understanding as we undertake this new responsibility is greatly appreciated.
