The County Treasurers Office is responsible for collection of real estate, personal property and motor vehicle taxes, special assessments and other miscellaneous taxes for Leavenworth County.  The Treasurer apportions and distributes such revenue to local taxing units. In addition, the Treasurer is responsible for the title and registration application of motor vehicles, driver’s license renewals at the Tonganoxie Annex, and performs the function of a bank for all revenue-generating County departments and invests tax dollars          


REAL ESTATE TAX BILLS MAILED

The Leavenworth County Treasurer’s Office would like to inform residents that the real estate tax bills have been mailed. Property owners should expect to receive their bills within the next few days.

If you do not receive your tax bill, please contact the Treasurer’s Office at (913) 684-0430 or email us at treasurer@leavenworthcounty.gov

Please remember that payment is due by December 22nd to avoid penalties and interest. Payments can be made online by visiting our website, by mail or in person.

In addition to collecting taxes and registering vehicles, the Annex can:


Renew driver licenses Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. by walk in only, as long as you do not have a CDL or CNC (Conceal and Carry). Note: If you need to change your state of residence on your license, you will need to go to a Kansas DMV location, you can contact the Leavenworth DMV at 913-651-6947.

- Renew ID Cards for individuals that do not have a CDL, and only issue ID Cards for individuals that are age 16 and under or has disabilities

Driver's license office will not be open on the last day of the month due to the volume of motor vehicle registrations.

NOTE: Drivers license are Cash or Check only

We now accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express and Debit Cards as forms of payment for vehicle registration and tax payments, when you come into our office. Note: There is a 2.65% convenience fee charged by the credit card companies that goes directly to that company.

Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:55 p.m. NOTE: Title work will end at 4:30
Title work at the Annex will stop at 3:30PM

If you have done an online renewal of your registration/tags, please allow 14 days for processing.

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE REGISTRATION:

Commercial transaction hours are 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Both the Leavenworth and Tonganoxie locations can process CMV transactions.
