PERCENTAGE OF TIME/ACCOUNTABILITIES

                           

30% - Reception area duties; answering calls, greeting and checking clients in with supervision officers or program staff.

20% - Assists adult supervision officers with filing legal documentation or riding along in transports as needed.

20% - Answering JIAS calls, communicates with Law Enforcement & dispatchers to schedule intakes with JIAS staff.

20% - Assist with transporting youth clients to programs and facilitating juvenile cognitive interventions as needed.  

10% - Enter documentation and data into applicable database.

 

SCOPE
This position is responsible for performing various tasks, assisting supervision offices and assisting program staff, to ensure effective and efficient corrections supervision and cognitive program operations. Responsible for sharing reception area duties; answering telephones, greeting clients and the public while maintaining professionalism as a representative of Community Corrections. Data entry and documentation in appropriate database as needed. Field calls from Law Enforcement and dispatchers regarding Juvenile Intake and Assessment Services during regular business hours. Schedules intakes for JIAS officers as needed. Assist with transportation of clients and cofacilitating of cognitive programs as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS (This is not an inclusive list, other tasks/duties may be assigned.)

  1. Responsible for reception area duties; answering telephones, greeting clients and the public while maintaining professionalism as representative of Community Corrections.
  2. Responsible for accurately entering information into the Athena database system. Assists clients with intake/orientation paperwork and file records. Updates client information as needed.
  3. Ability to collaborate and assist officers and program facilitators with agency tasks.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others. 
  5. Maintains files and records for affiliated agency uses.
  6. Performs typing of legal documents.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.     

 

HUMAN RELATIONS

  1. Is the first line of contact for clients and law enforcement when covering mainlines.
  2. Assists adult supervision officers with client visits, drug testing, and transporting as needed.
  3. Assists cognitive program staff with transporting and co-facilitating youth programs as needed.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Work is performed in a modern, smoke-free, office setting working with high-risk adult and juvenile felony level offenders.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Driver’s license. Must be at least twenty-one years of age or older. Must have the ability to pass a criminal background check and both state child and adult abuse registry checks. Must be qualified for access to KCJIS. Must have the ability to pass a drug test and physical. This individual must have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; good time management, customer service and problem-solving skills; ability to work accurately to meet deadlines; and exercise initiative, good judgment, exemplary professionalism, and discretion. A minimum of 60-credit hours from an accredited college or possess an Associate’s Degree in criminal justice, human services, behavior sciences, or another related field.

 

ADA/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Vision.                         Adequate to use personal computer, filing, completion of reports, forms and correspondence.

 

  • Hearing.                      Adequate for normal conversation with employees or applicants and the general public.

 

  • Speech.                        Must be able to speak and understand English language clearly to provide detailed information by telephone and in person.

 

  • Standing.                     10% of the time – when performing filing tasks and when operating various office machines.

 

  • Walking.                      10% of the time – when delivering or retrieving information, files, etc., from within the office or from other departments.

 

  • Sitting.                        80% of the time – when completing administrative, personal computer, and telephone work assignments.

 

  • Lifting/Carrying          20 pounds – lifting files, office supplies, and reports. 

 

  • Pushing/Pulling           50 pounds – moving files boxes, office supplies, and reports; and when opening and closing file cabinet drawers and doors.

 

  • Climbing/Balancing    Required when negotiating stairs or retrieving files or supplies from overhead or from the floor.

 

  • Stooping/Kneeling      Required when retrieving or filing from lower drawers or when retrieving items, office supplies, etc. from the floor.

 

  • Reaching/Handling     Required on most tasks.
