PERCENTAGE OF TIME ACCOUNTABILITIES
50% 1. Assists AISP officers with adult offenders, conducts drug tests for male clients, assists officers with residential verifications, accompanies officers with transporting of clients to treatment as needed, attends court to keep AISP staff updated on court proceedings as needed, carries out data entry & clerical duties associated with AISP supervision.
25% 2. Program reception area duties; data entry, answering calls, greeting and checking clients in for program staff, transporting youth clients and facilitating youth cognitive behavioral education interventions as needed.
25% 3. Answering JIAS calls, complete JIAS intakes as needed, participates in rotating JIAS on-call, communicates with Law Enforcement & dispatchers to schedule intakes with afternoon JIAS staff, data entry & clerical duties associated with JIAS.
SCOPE
This is a full-time all-inclusive position responsible for performing various tasks, such as aiding AISP supervision staff, assisting with JIAS duties/covering JIAS on-call, and assisting cognitive program staff to ensure effective and efficient corrections supervision and cognitive program operations within the agency. Responsible for sharing reception area duties as needed; answering JIAS/programming calls, greeting clients and the public while maintaining professionalism as a representative of Community Corrections. Data entry and documentation in appropriate database as needed for AISP, JIAS, or cognitive programs. Field calls from Law Enforcement and dispatchers regarding Juvenile Intake and Assessment Services during regular business hours. Schedules intakes for JIAS officers as needed. Assist with transportation of adult and youth clients, as well as cofacilitating of cognitive behavioral education programs as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Responsible for reception area duties; answering telephones, greeting clients and the public while maintaining professionalism as representative of Community Corrections.
- Responsible for accurately entering information into the Athena database system. Assists clients with intake/orientation paperwork and file records. Updates client information as needed.
- Ability to collaborate and assist officers and program facilitators with agency tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
- Maintains files and records for affiliated agency uses.
- Performs typing of legal documents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
HUMAN RELATIONS
- Is the first line of contact for clients and law enforcement when covering mainlines.
- Assists adult supervision officers with client visits, drug testing, and transporting as needed.
- Assists cognitive program staff with transporting and co-facilitating youth programs as needed.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in a modern, smoke-free, office setting working with high-risk adult and juvenile felony level offenders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Driver’s license. Must be at least twenty-one years of age or older. Must have the ability to pass a criminal background check and both state child and adult abuse registry checks. Must be qualified for access to KCJIS. Must have the ability to pass a drug test and physical. This individual must have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; good time management, customer service and problem-solving skills; ability to work accurately to meet deadlines; and exercise initiative, good judgment, exemplary professionalism, and discretion. Must have the ability to pass drug screening prior to employment and participate in random drug screening in accordance with Leavenworth County Drug Screening policy. Must have the ability to pass truth verification testing and pass a clinical psych evaluation prior to employment. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of criminal justice, human/social services, behavioral sciences, or a related field.
ADA/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Vision - Adequate to use personal computer, filing, completion of reports, forms and correspondence.
- Hearing -Adequate for normal conversation with employees or applicants and the general public.
- Speech -Must be able to speak and understand English language clearly to provide detailed information by telephone and in person.
- Standing -10% of the time – when performing filing tasks and when operating various office machines.
- Walking -10% of the time – when delivering or retrieving information, files, etc., from within the office or from other departments.
- Sitting - 80% of the time – when completing administrative, personal computer, and telephone work assignments.
- Lifting/Carrying - 20 pounds – lifting files, office supplies, and reports.
- Pushing/Pulling - 50 pounds – moving files boxes, office supplies, and reports; and when opening and closing file cabinet drawers and doors.
- Climbing/Balancing -Required when negotiating stairs or retrieving files or supplies from overhead or from the floor.
- Stooping/Kneeling - Required when retrieving or filing from lower drawers or when retrieving items, office supplies, etc. from the floor.
- Reaching/Handling - Required on most tasks.
