PERCENTAGE OF TIME/ACCOUNTABILITIES
60% Inspection and evaluation of day care centers, including corresponding paperwork and documentation.
30% Lead contact with the state agency overseeing that the childcare licensing.
10% Assisting in Health Department clinics/other duties, emergency preparedness.
SCOPE
Serves as a surveyor for the Child Care Licensing Program for the Leavenworth County Health Department under the general supervision of the Health Departments Office Manager. This position is the lead contact with the state childcare licensing office. This position is responsible for maintaining all requirement within the grant contract. The Surveyor’s role is also to provide regulatory guidance and determine compliance with childcare regulations. Plans and executes daycare inspections and evaluations. Assists in establishing daycares, acts as liaison between childcare and state agency. Responds to and investigates complaints involving childcare licensing. Participates in Health Department Clinics. Performs other duties as assigned by the Health Department Administrative Director.

HUMAN RELATIONS
Works with local and state agencies in providing services to enhance the quality of life for residents of Leavenworth County. Collaborates with local agencies and daycares to provide exemplary services for infants and children. Must be able to work some night and weekend hours as workload dictates.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS (This is not an inclusive list; other tasks/duties may be assigned.)
- Prepares reports / correspondence for day care program both internally and externally.
- Acts as Lead childcare surveyor inspector - Inspects and evaluates licensed childcare facilities.
- Orients and guides new providers through the daycare licensure process.
- Acts as liaison between daycare providers and state licensing agency.
- Acts as child advocate during daycare inspections.
- Assist with Health Department clinics.
- Assist with grant preparation
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Clinics are performed in clinic setting; travels by auto / van / truck to site location, and meetings; walks over varying terrain in various weather conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications are set by KDHE Child Care Licensing and cannot be reduced or substituted.
Minimum of 4yr degree in child development, early childhood education, childcare administration, elementary education, human development human development, social work or a related field. Surveyor may also qualify as an RN or 4-year degree in nursing. Possession of valid driver’s license and insurable through county’s insurance.
