This tag is available for cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, and motorbikes issued prior to January 1, 2009. This plate will be discontinued with the reissuance of the Ad Astra plate.
Cost: Registration, tag, title fees, and personal property taxes.
Personalized Plates
Personalized plates are issued every five years. 2015 was an issuance year. The new personalized plate design will be made available in 2020. The message on the plate cannot be vulgar or have an indecent meaning; acceptability will be decided by the State of Kansas DMV. Effective July 1, 2009, all personalized plate combinations can only be assigned to one vehicle in the state.
All personalized plates should be ordered at the County Treasurer’s office and will up to 30 days from the date of order to be delivered. Applicants need to fill out the Personalized Plate Form.
Below is a list of the various types of personalized plates and the restrictions.
Autos and trucks with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less - 7 letters, numbers, or spaces
Motorcycles - 5 letters, numbers, or spaces
Disabled autos and trucks with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less - 5 letters, numbers, or spaces
Antique - Limited to 7 letters, numbers, or spaces
Cost: $45.50 in addition to registration, tag, title fees, and personal property tax.
