Specialty Plates
Agriculture in the Classroom
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and $25 tax-deductible donation to the Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom which will appear annually at time of renewal.
Amateur Radio Plate
This plate is available to any Kansas resident who own or lease an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. The owner or lessee must hold an unrevoked and unexpired official amateur radio station license issued by the Federal Communications Commission. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $1.00 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax.
Antique Vehicle Plates
This plate is available to anyone who owns an automobile, motorcycle, or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less, is 35 years or older and has not been altered or modified from the original manufacturer’s model with the exception of safety components. The vehicle must be titled in the state of Kansas on an antique title in the name of the applicant for antique registration. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50. Annual fees are $17.00 after the original issue of the plate. This consists of $12.00 property tax and $5.00 application fee.
You may also get a title only for an antique. The same vehicle age requirements exist, but no insurance is necessary.
Cost: $10.00 title fee and $17.00 annual property tax.
Breast Cancer Research Plate
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $5.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and $50 tax-deductible donation toward the statewide medical coordinator for the Midwest Cancer Alliance (MCA) which will appear annually at time of renewal.
Children's Trust Fund
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $5.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and $50 tax-deductible donation to local communities to support prevention of child abuse and neglect which will appear annually at time of renewal.
Donate Life Plate
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner's registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and a $40 tax-deductible donation to Midwest Transplant Network which will appear annually at time of renewal.
Ducks Unlimited Plate
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner's registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction
Cost: A one time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and a $35 tax-deductible donation to Ducks Unlimited which will appear annually at time of renewal.
EMS Plate
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. The applicant must be employed in the Emergency Medical Services Field and must provide the Distinctive Plate License Plate Certification form. Yearly re-certification is required for this plate. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees and personal property tax.
Firefighter Plate
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. The applicant must provide the Firefighter License Plate Certification form. Yearly re-certification is required for this plate. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees and personal property tax.
I'm Pet Friendly
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile, motorcycle or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and $50 tax-deductible donation to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University which will appear annually at time of renewal.
In God We Trust Plate
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile, motorcycle or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees and personal property tax.
Kansas Horse Council
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and $30 tax-deductible donation to the Kansas Horse Council which will appear annually at time of renewal.
Kansas Freemasons
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and $25 tax-deductible donation to the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Kansas which will appear annually at time of renewal.
Shriner Plate
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. The applicant must provide a signed certificate filled out by the Shrine Temple. Yearly re-certification is required for this plate. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $45.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and $25 tax-deductible donation to the Kansas Shriners Associations which will appear annually at time of renewal.
State of the Arts
This plate is available to anyone who owns or leases an automobile or truck with a gross weight of 20,000 pounds or less. If the vehicle is currently tagged, the applicant must return their original plate, provide current owner’s registration, and proof of insurance. A Royalty Plate form will need to be filled out at time of transaction.
Cost: A one-time production charge of $5.50 plus title fees, registration fees, personal property tax and $50 donation towards funding arts programs in Kansas which will appear annually at time of renewal. This is not a tax deductible item.
