Services are provided on a sliding fee scale for uninsured patients to ensure accessible care. Our offerings include annual well-woman exams, management of gynecological concerns, basic infertility services, and a variety of birth control options, such as natural family planning and abstinence. Additionally, we provide referrals and resources to support women’s health and reproductive needs.

EARLY DETECTION WORKS PROGRAM

Free breast and cervical cancer screenings are available for uninsured women who meet income guidelines. These services include clinical breast exams and Pap and HPV testing. Additionally, we provide referrals for mammograms, advanced cervical cancer screenings, and treatment services to ensure comprehensive care and early detection.

MATERNAL AND INFANT PROGRAM - PRENATAL CARE

We offer comprehensive prenatal services, including clinical care, education, counseling, and referrals to support expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy. Routine prenatal visits and laboratory testing are conducted in partnership with the University of Kansas Medical Center, ensuring access to specialized resources. Ultrasounds, medical procedures, and delivery services are provided at KUMC to ensure high-quality, coordinated care for both mother and baby.

SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS (STI) MANAGEMENT

Our services include comprehensive risk assessment, screening, and testing for sexually transmitted infections. We provide treatment for common STIs, along with counseling and educational resources to promote sexual health and prevention. Additionally, we offer referrals for HIV medication management, including PEP and PrEP, as well as hepatitis treatment, to support individuals in managing and reducing their health risks effectively.

PHYSICALS

The clinic process requires two visits: a Nurse Visit for screenings and a Provider Visit for the physical examination. Adult physicals, which may be for general wellness, pre-employment screening, or school enrollment, include vision, hearing, and BMI screenings, blood pressure measurements, and lab tests such as glucose and cholesterol, along with an overall health assessment and appropriate referrals.

Child physicals are provided in accordance with the Kan-Be-Healthy Program and the American Academy of Pediatrics schedule, encompassing routine well-child visits, school enrollment physicals, immunizations, developmental screenings, vision, hearing, lead testing, and referrals as needed.

Please note that we do not perform sports physicals or DOT physicals.

SOCIAL SERVICES

Pregnancy Maintenance Initiative (PMI)
The Pregnancy Maintenance Initiative (PMI) employs a case management model that integrates collaborative, multidisciplinary care to support pregnant women throughout their pregnancy and up to six months postpartum. Services are customized to meet each client's individual needs and goals, with the aim of improving outcomes for both mother and infant. The program promotes partnerships between public and private providers to ensure affordable and accessible care, while also offering referrals to community resources, adoption services, and parenting education and support. Additionally, PMI encourages paternal involvement and responsibility, fostering a supportive environment for expectant mothers to receive comprehensive prenatal care.

Teen Pregnancy Targeted Case Management (TPTCM)
The TPTCM program offers comprehensive case management services to KanCare-enrolled pregnant and parenting teens throughout pregnancy and up to 12 months postpartum. The program encourages adequate prenatal care and ongoing health monitoring for both mother and baby, while supporting teen mothers in delaying additional pregnancies until they have completed their education or vocational training. It also promotes participation in well-child health programs and provides guidance to help develop effective parenting skills, fostering a supportive environment for both maternal and child health.

The Buckle-Brigade - Car Seat Safety Program
The program offers inspection and installation of car seats in accordance with Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) standards and requirements, ensuring that seats are properly secured for optimal safety. Additionally, the KTRSO Child Passenger Safety Program provides free car seats to eligible families in need, supporting safe transportation practices for children.

The Swaddle Squad - Safe Sleep Program
The program is open to any individual who is pregnant or has an infant in need of a safe sleeping environment and is willing to participate in safe sleep education. Family members and caregivers are also welcome to attend the safe sleep training sessions. However, each infant will receive only one portable crib and sleep sack, ensuring that all participating families have access to safe sleep resources and knowledge to promote infant safety.

Additional Health Department services are provided. Please contact the Health Department at (913) 250-2000 for further information.

CHILD CARE LICENSING

Individuals providing regular childcare for unrelated children in either home or commercial settings are required to be licensed or registered in accordance with state regulations. The Leavenworth County Health Department conducts compliance inspections of childcare facilities and preschools within the county to ensure safety and regulatory adherence. For questions regarding registration or to address any concerns or complaints, inquiries can be directed to the Health Department’s childcare surveyor, who can provide guidance and support.
