The Planning Commission hears and makes recommendations concerning amendments to the zoning regulations, including rezoning property and the comprehensive plan.  The Planning Commission also makes recommendations on development cases such as preliminary plats and final plats and convenes as the Board of Zoning Appeals to hear requests for variances from the Leavenworth County Zoning and Subdivision Regulations.

How to Apply to serve on the Planning Commission: Complete a Planning Commission Application to be considered for the next vacancy. You can also complete a paper application and County Clerk's Office at 300 Walnut, Leavenworth, KS.  Applications will be kept on file and reviewed when there is a vacancy on the Board.

Resolution 2021-25 amended the number of Planning Commissioners appointed to the Commission on July 8th 2021. The resolution expanded the Planning Commission from a nine-member board to a ten-member board.
