Elder Abuse
Our agency is concerned about the care and well-being of our senior population. Call the Council on Aging office @ (913) 684-0777 if you feel an elderly person is suffering from mental or physical abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation at the hands of another person or organization.
Advocacy
Advocacy is any action taken on behalf of older customers to secure their rights or available benefits. This includes receiving, investigating and working to resolve disputes or complaints. Anyone who is concerned about the well-being of an elderly person should call our office and speak with the Social Service Representative.
Legal Advice
A volunteer attorney with Kansas Legal Services is available at our office on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 12:00-3:30 p.m. The attorney is available to meet with seniors 60 years of age or older and will guide and assist seniors on legal matters such as Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, and minor legal issues. Although no fees are assessed for these services, donations are accepted. Appointments are required to visit with the attorney, so please call our office, (913) 684-0777, to schedule your appointment.
