Intergenerational
The concept of this program is to bring together the generations to learn from and teach one another. It provides an opportunity for youths (ages 4-18) and older adults (age 60+) to interact with individuals they may not ordinarily have a chance to connect with. The program allows a link to be established between the generations by helping both age groups define their roles and places in history.
The program encourages all participants to participate in goal development and the implementation of the activities, leading to better understanding between the generations. It also helps each generation value each other as individuals, dispelling fears and stereotypes. Activities currently include the Intergenerational Reading program and a Pen Pal program.
