Community Corrections
VISION AND PURPOSE
Leavenworth County Community Corrections is dedicated to improving public safety in our community through responsive risk reduction and evidence-based practices. We are determined to provide a safe, stable, and vibrant path to personal improvement for probation clients working collaboratively with community leaders, treatment service providers, and the public while holding individuals under our supervision accountable. As leaders in corrections, we strive to prevent the recurrence of crime by supervising and connecting individuals on probation with services that are utilizing innovative approaches to change problematic behaviors and thought processes. Our duty to public service and responsibilities will be conducted with the highest degree of integrity, expectations for excellence, and with respect for the value and dignity of human life. We empower our employees to educate, coach, and motivate clients to make positive, long-term, behavior changes that will not only improve the offender's well-being, but create a healing ripple effect in our community to further reduce crime. Our agency will put into policy and practice outcome-oriented and evidence-based strategies to provide humane and trauma-informed supervision, as well as rehabilitative and reentry assistance for offenders under our supervision to ensure sound fiscal management.
OUR DUTIES TO YOU
PROVIDE PUBLIC SAFETY |
Maintain manageable caseloads allowing staff to closely supervise offenders in the community, uphold our duty as mandated reporters. |
ENFORCE ACCOUNTABILITY |
Ordered Sanctions - develop supervision plans that meet the requirements of the court and provides structure, in efforts to improve the offender's ability to complete the terms of probation and take responsibility for their own success while on supervision. |
CRIME VICTIM COMPENSATION |
Oversee payment of restitution, court costs, and community service work. |
OFFENDER REHABILITATION REFERRALS |
Refer and monitor the offender's participation in services and court ordered treatment programs in the community to address issues related to addiction, anger management, mental illness, anti-social thinking, employment readiness, education, and life skills in efforts to reduce recidivism. |
