Board of Building Codes Appeals
The Board of Building Codes Appeals (BBCA) is a quasi-judicial board made up of 5-7 members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The BBCA has the following responsibilities:
- Hear and determine appeals by any building permit applicant who appeals the staff interpretation or application of building codes, as adopted by the County.
- Provide recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners relating to building codes
To be eligible to serve on the BBCA, applicants must reside in Leavenworth County and have a background in building trades or fire protection. The applicant must be able to demonstrate their knowledge of applicable fields sufficient to the expectations of the Board of County Commissioners.
The BBCA meets when necessary. The Board must hold a meeting within five (5) business days of receipt of an appeal application or when required to perform other functions of their roles and duties.
